Yuca Bar & De Robertis Pastry Shoppe

Joel and I were supposed to go to Homecoming at Elon this weekend, but unfortunately we were not able to go, but we still had Friday off, so we decided to take FULL ADVANTAGE!

Over the past couple of years, we have been trying to explore new areas of the city, and today we decided to take on the Lower East Side. We started at 14th Street and headed toward Tompkins Square Park, stopping at a couple shops on the way.  After a recommendation from our friend, Marcie, we ended up at Yuca Bar on 7th St and Avenue A.

What an awesome place! We were looking for some good food, drinks, and a good spot for people watching and we were not disappointed in the slightest.  We found a great spot right in front of a big open window looking right out to the park.  Take a look below at the amazing Tapas plates and drinks that we devoured...

We started with some delicious drinks... Frozen Passion Fruit Margarita for me, Presidente Beer for Joel...

Then, we tried out the Tapas Menu...
Here are the Camaroncoco, Coconut Crusted Baby Shrimp with Passion Fruit Chipotle Aioli, and Spanish Bruschetta, Topped with Manchego Cheese and Pico de Gallo...

Then Joel's Favorite, Espresso BBQ Costillitas, Baby Back Ribs with Latin Coffee Inspired BBQ Sauce... Seriously these were amazing... so tender and and deliciousssss

And then, Platano Relleno, Sweet Plantains Stuffed with Slow Roasted Pork, Drizzled with Sour Cream... WOW!

I cannot wait to go back to this place...

On the way home, we stopped at De Robertis Pastry Shoppe for a little dessert to go...

A cannoli for me and of course a Brownie for Joel... mmmmmm!
