Decorating With Pumpkins

I am sure I have said this before, but the Fall is my FAVORITE season.  I love the weather, the colors of the leaves, the wardrobe, and also the PUMPKINS!  Since, Joel and I have decided to plan our wedding for the Fall of 2013, I've been scouring magazines and blogs looking for ideas to incorporate for a beautiful Fall wedding.  One thing I have found to be such a great idea is using pumpkins as decoration.

I saw this great idea in The Knot Magazine.  Carving pumpkins with their names is such a simple and cute idea.  It is the perfect backdrop for their Candy Bar.

I love this idea from Ceci Style.  Pumpkins as place cards are such a cute idea.  And I love how they painted these mini pumpkins silver to create a "Luxe Look."

I love the amazing detail of this Stenciled Pumpkin that I saw on Masterpiece Wedding.  Check out Better Homes & Gardens to learn how to make your own.

Then, I fell in love with this wedding that I saw on Grey Likes Weddings.  I love the color palette
that they used, so perfect for the fall! And the pumpkins are the perfect touch.  I also love how
they used pumpkins as table numbers, check them out here.

I love these sparkly, glittery pumpkins that I saw on The Glitter Guide.  They are so much fun and so cute to use as decoration at a wedding or just at home.  Learn how to make them here

O wow, how I love white pumpkins.  They are the perfect touch for an elegant fall wedding. They are so pretty! I love how they were used in this beautiful wedding on Hello to Hitched.  To see even more pictures check out the full wedding on The Bridal Bar.

I cannot get enough of this amazing Autumn Inspiration Shoot on Hey Gorgeous Events blog.  It is so pretty and seasonal without being too over the top! Love the color combo of gold and pink with the white and gold mini pumpkins, amazing!

And, finally, I am officially obsessed with this photo! The colors are amazing!  It is so beautiful! You can check out the rest of the wedding on Love and Lavender.

I saw this amazing looking sandwich on Joy the Baker earlier this week.  Even though I wasn't feeling so good, I couldn't wait to make one. A Grilled Ham and Cheese with Pickles and Potato Chips inside. OMG it just looks so good...

So, today at work, I tried to make my own... it didn't look as good as this one, but it was deliciousssss.....

Yuca Bar & De Robertis Pastry Shoppe

Joel and I were supposed to go to Homecoming at Elon this weekend, but unfortunately we were not able to go, but we still had Friday off, so we decided to take FULL ADVANTAGE!

Over the past couple of years, we have been trying to explore new areas of the city, and today we decided to take on the Lower East Side. We started at 14th Street and headed toward Tompkins Square Park, stopping at a couple shops on the way.  After a recommendation from our friend, Marcie, we ended up at Yuca Bar on 7th St and Avenue A.

What an awesome place! We were looking for some good food, drinks, and a good spot for people watching and we were not disappointed in the slightest.  We found a great spot right in front of a big open window looking right out to the park.  Take a look below at the amazing Tapas plates and drinks that we devoured...

We started with some delicious drinks... Frozen Passion Fruit Margarita for me, Presidente Beer for Joel...

Then, we tried out the Tapas Menu...
Here are the Camaroncoco, Coconut Crusted Baby Shrimp with Passion Fruit Chipotle Aioli, and Spanish Bruschetta, Topped with Manchego Cheese and Pico de Gallo...

Then Joel's Favorite, Espresso BBQ Costillitas, Baby Back Ribs with Latin Coffee Inspired BBQ Sauce... Seriously these were amazing... so tender and and deliciousssss

And then, Platano Relleno, Sweet Plantains Stuffed with Slow Roasted Pork, Drizzled with Sour Cream... WOW!

I cannot wait to go back to this place...

On the way home, we stopped at De Robertis Pastry Shoppe for a little dessert to go...

A cannoli for me and of course a Brownie for Joel... mmmmmm!

Fort Lauderdale

What a great vacation…

Here we are on the plane on the way down to Fort Lauderdale

After checking in at the hotel, our first stop was lunch. Fort Lauderdale has so many great little restaurants right there across the street from the beach.  We ended up at the most relaxing looking place that we saw, Sangrias, and what a great choice it was! How can you go wrong sitting at a table like this...

And eating food that looks like this...
Fish Tacos and a Corona... It couldn't get better...

But it did....

Here we are celebrating getting engaged at the Ritz...

The next day, Colleen's friend Jill came to hang out with us and we spent the day watching football and bar hopping...

Later in the week, we took a great Carrie B Harbor Tour of Fort Lauderdale to check out all of the famous houses and yachts...

The White House of Fort Lauderdale..

Here we are having fun at the beach....

Super windy, can you tell??

Everywhere had these hugeeee drinks, so we had to give them a shot... Joel with his Mango Mojito and me with my Mango Daiquiri.

Playing cards at the Chili's at the airport, waiting to go home after an awesome week!

Now back to reality...
